Area Guide - Properties for sale in Morocco, North Africa
A country of contrasts, Morocco is home to an exciting and emerging investment opportunity for property buyers looking for something different. Escapes2 & www.escapetospain.co.uk are proud to offer property investment opportunities in Morocco.
Morocco is situated on the North West tip of Africa, between Algeria and Western Sahara, and has coasts on both the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Morocco is separated from the rest of the continent by the towering Atlas Mountains and by the Sahara itself. Morocco's climate, geography, and history are all more closely related to the Mediterranean than to the rest of Africa, with strong influences from both Spain and France.
Morocco truly is a country of contrasts. In the north fine beaches, lush highland valleys, and fascinating old cities reinforce the impression of contrast. The further south and east you venture however, into and over the starkly beautiful ranges of the Atlases, Morocco's Mediterranean character melts as the Sahara stretches out into the horizon.
Escapes2 portfolio of properties in Morocco are mainly based in the Northern areas on Morocco, with villas and apartments for sale in Tetouan and Rabat amongst other areas.

Facts about Morocco
Morocco's history can be traced back to the Berbers, the native aboriginal people who have inhabited the country since the end of the 2nd millennium BC. Since 146BC when Rome invaded Carthage, Morocco has been invaded by first the Vandals, and then in the 7th Century by the Arabs. Although external Arab rule lasted little more than a century, the arrival of Islam proved to be a permanent addition to Moroccan culture. From the 15th Century onwards, Spain and Portugal tried to make headway into, and although these invasions were repulsed, the French eventually gained control over Morocco in 1911. Although French rule ended in 1953, the country still maintains strong links with France, and its cultural influence on Morocco is still strongly evident. The diversity of cultures in Morocco is one of the reasons many people purchase properties in Morocco.
